Emergency Notification System
Has anyone seen a this device erected in your area?While meandering downtown Chicago, I witnessed two guys working for Horizon Contractors, Inc. wiring this new device for service. I asked one of the contractors what the thing was and he replied, "It's an emergency notification system... a giant speaker."
This is device is located on the southwest corner of South Wacker Drive and West Madison Street.
I'm trying to find more information on this contraption. Horizon Contractors, Inc. doesn't appear to have a web presence.

Hmm. Suspicious considering all the new acoustic devices and weapons in existence now.
No specific info, no...it would appear that they are amping up preparations for something big though. Keep us posted if you find anything more about these devices.
Huh!- reminds me of the "speaker" that announces the Teletubbies daily schedule in that show. This is why they try to get small children used to such devices. We will be seeing a lot more of them as the years go on
I haven't seen this device yet,but I do see about 12 'cell phone towers'commuting to and from work as well as one on my works 37 acre yard.They also diguise these towers as palm trees,clever bastards.Also downtown Long Beach,CA has cameras everywhere for a three mile perimeter.I was thinking of doing an article about these towers and other devices, and taking my own pictures for all to see. a.v. michaels - Yes, suspicious indeed. My immediate impression when I saw this being installed was, "Oh, shit. Something isn't right about this."
filmnoir23, I agree. I have couple of speculative hunches concerning the safety of Chicago. One hunch having to do Silverstein Properties(yes, Larry Silverstein!) buying the Sears Tower on March 11, 2004.
hoi polloi, I'm going to watch some Teletubbies shows(*cold shiver*) to see what you talking about. :)
joshua, I wouldn't be surprised if cell towers had ulterior uses, not to mention the negative health effects. CCTV cameras are popping up everywhere in Chicago, too. Take pictures and share!
