Appliance shopping tip #1: Before buying a new appliance, measure every doorway that the appliance will being passing through. If the doors to your house are 28" wide, please do not buy a 36" wide refrigerator and then expect the delivery critters to somehow collapse matter to carry it through the small opening.

Phrase most often uttered by customers: "Well, in came in through there!"

This job has been quite a learning experience. Going into the homes of complete strangers was very odd for me at first, but now it has become entertaining to see how other people live. I've been in a couple of houses that were so cluttered with stuff, from the floor to the ceiling, that it made me uncomfortable to be inside of them. Every flat surface had piles of miscellaneous objects stacked on top of it; narrow pathways connecting each room.

I'm considering bringing a "tip jar" with us and setting it down inside the customers home during the delivery process. Two(!) customers tipped us $20 this week. I figure if we set down a tip jar in front of them it may convince more people to show us some monetary love.
